We left the hotel in Santa Rosa and headed North on Highway 101 (The Redwood Highway). We went through Hop Town, where they make the beer hops and eventually decided to stop and camp overnight at the Avenue of the Giants, a huge forest of giant redwood trees. This area looked like a prehistoric forest and we walked a couple of hours then set up fondue, wine and the tent.
We awoke in the middle of the night to some strange noises - owls and 'ringtail cats',which are a form of lemur (noisy bastards!). Jill got scared and wouldn't leave the tent. :)
